Improve your relationship with EFT couples therapy

Emotionally Focussed Therapy (EFT) is a great way to work on your relationship. EFT couples therapy has been proven to be very effective. It has helped many couples to truly improve their relationship.

My approach to EFT couples therapy is hands on and always tailor made to you specific situation. I don’t mind confronting you when necessary, I don’t mind nudging you out of your comfort zone if needed. My interventions will always be respectful, sincere and from my heart. I will do what is required to help you rebuild your relationship.

Long lasting results, no ‘quick fix’!

How would you like to work on your relationship?

Some couples believe that applying a ‘quick fix’, or a patch to their relationship will help them along. They want their problems solved and they want them solved now! As a couples therapist I am not interested in patching up your relationship. I don’t believe in quick fixes. I regard patching up a relationship as creating future problems by current ineffective solutions. Saving a relationship takes time. Saving a relationship is a marathon, not a sprint.

Having said this, it is important to know that I do not work with every couple that approaches me. I only work with couples who commit to the work that needs to be done to effectively rebuild their relationship into a long lasting, loving and happy bond.

Reconnecting through EFT couples therapy

There is only one relationship problem: disconnection!

All other problems that you may be experiencing together derive from disconnection. So, when working on your relationship the first thing that needs to be done is to reconnect you. When you are reconnected you emotionally accessible, responsive and engaged to your partner.

After re-establishing the connection, we will identify the negative interaction patterns that hinder your happiness. These patterns usually originate from unmet needs and fears that linger in your relationship. Unmet needs and fears cause partners to behave in ways that do not benefit their relationship.

Being aware of your behaviour and its effects is an important step in breaking the negative interaction patterns. Being aware of your behaviour puts you in charge of your relationship. Why? Because you are now able to consciously choose different behaviour, that will affect your relationship positively. This is the start of new, healthier, more loving interaction patterns.

My EFT couples therapy plans

I offer two EFT couples therapy plans:

  • The Basic couples therapy plan:
    The basic plan has a duration of 2 months consisting of 1 intake, 4 sessions and 1 aftercare session. If necessary extra sessions can be added to this plan.
  • The Intensive couples therapy plan:
    The intensive plan has a duration of 6 months consisting of 1 intake, 11 sessions and 1 aftercare session. As this plan is very comprehensive, additional sessions are usually not needed. In most cases 6 months of intensive work is enough to truly transform a relationship at its core.

How do we get started?

If you are interested in EFT couples therapy and you are a committed couple, you should first schedule an appointment for an introductory session in my online calendar. This first meeting gives us the chance to get to know each other in a non-binding way and to determine whether we ‘click’ or not. During this meeting I will also further explain my approach and answer all questions you may have.

Please know that before we can start the following conditions apply. Whatever the state of your relationship is at this moment, it must be free from:

  • Domestic abuse or violence
  • Substance abuse or addiction
  • An ongoing affair (The ‘After an Affair’ plan may be more suitable in this case)
